Cholesterol
Too
much LDL, commonly called "bad cholesterol," can lead
to cardiovascular disease.
LDL
can be reduced by 18% to 55%. The potent statins can
reduce LDL levels even further. 2
LDL,
is formed primarily by the breakdown of VLDL. LDL contains
little triglycerides and a large amount of cholesterol
(60-70% of a person's total cholesterol).
LDL
cholesterol can build up on the inside of artery walls,
contributing to artery blockages that can lead to heart
attacks. Higher LDL cholesterol levels mean higher risk.
