Cholesterol
Medication
High cholesterol
can often be managed with lifestyle changes such as
a better diet and more exercise. If this isn't enough,
your doctor may prescribe cholesterol medication.
Statin drugs
like Lipitor, Zocor and Norvir lower cholesterol but
can have serious side effects. If taking statin drugs,
you should also take a Co-Enzyme Q-10 supplement as
these drugs reduce the level of this enzyme in your
system.
Nicotinic acid drugs or the vitamin niacin in high doses
can reduce bad LDL cholesterol and increase HDL good
cholesterol. Niacin has also been shown to reduce harmful
triglycerides.
Fibric acids
or fibrates also reduce triglycerides and increase HDL
good cholesterol. Fibric acid is in the cholesterol
medications Lopid and Tricor.
Always CONSULT
YOUR DOCTOR AND DIETICIAN first about lowering cholestrol
